Mildred Purse says Karl Rove is not up to the job of beating the President
Karl Rove must have had a terrible upbringing to be so nasty. But those of us who love our President can take heart. I have it from friends that Karl simply is not up to the job of defeating the President. He had ability when he was doing dirty things to John McCain and standing with George W. Bush when he made shock and awe a household word. But these exertions took something out of him. He has nightmares where he sees Iraqi children - Well, I will stop right there.
The Coming Shame of America
The attacks will come from fringe hate elements
From anonymous billionaires
From the Kochs
From the RNC
From the Republican nominee
who lies as a matter of course
There will be no limit on vitriol
No stanching of bile
Senator Grassley calls the President stupid
Language he would never use on any previous President
Mitch McConnell makes removal of the President
his only political goal
a goal never announced by a previous Minority Leader
When hate increases these men will remain silent
The hate will stay at pain level 10
There is only one way to defeat this
Call it out so forcefully it will be seen for what it is
That is what I intend to do

AdBrite will not advertise on Blogger blogs
According to an email just received, AdBrite will not advertise on any free blog. Their designation for where they will advertise is a "top level domain". There I was - ready to consider using them, only to have cold water poured on the whole idea. I think a blog is a blog is a blog. Wherever it is. Its quality lies in its content, not the domain. I think using free resources on the Web is a small compensation to people who invest hours of time producing content that others enjoy and find useful. The top domain business is a cheap means of not being willing to examine content from blog to blog regardless of what domain it happens to be on.

The Coming Meltdown Was Common Knowledge Among the Perps
Robert Lenzner: You Can't Trust the Wise Men of Finance: "A small band of investment banks, led by Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Barclays created in 2006 their own private index, the ABX, to enable them to hedge their positions in derivatives, and to make billions by selling short these dangerous securities they had created. They understood quite succinctly they would be faced by a meltdown, a "perfect storm," a "Long-Tail.""

Charles Sanders Peirce on How Thought Takes Place
C.S. Peirce • Relatives of Second Intention | Inquiry Into Inquiry: " By logical reflexion, I mean the observation of thoughts in their expressions. Aquinas remarked that this sort of reflexion is requisite to furnish us with those ideas which, from lack of contrast, ordinary external experience fails to bring into prominence. He called such ideas second intentions. Is is by means of relatives of second intention that the general method of logical representation is to find completion.

Syria makes Macbeth look like a parlor game
There is so much blood on Syria's hands that they are damned
Damned if they continue to execute their own
Damned if they stop and pay the penalty of being war criminals

Romney plans to win women over by genial hypocrisy
The National Memo » Romney’s First General Election Pivot: Contraception: "But the very thing that should make Romney more appealing to women than most Republicans — his pro-choice admonitions in Massachusetts — makes grassroots conservatives, just waiting for a fresh betrayal, wary. He will have to tread softly in revealing his “real position,” which they might suspect to be another flip-flop on choice. The GOP platform he’ll be running on will surely contain a hardline stance against abortion rights, so whether this stiff Mormon who married his high school sweetheart can convince the rest of us he isn’t completely stuck in the 1950s will make all the difference in November."

The con is so much a part of American life that being believable may be the least of a politician's worries. No one expects it. So it will come down to the man. (sic)

Get up to speed on uncivil liberties that threaten your freedom
This Week in Civil Liberties (4/6/2012): "What do local law enforcement across the country use to track Americans' location?
Which part of the government doesn't recognize rape as sexual assault?
Which court ruled that you can be strip searched for a traffic violation?
How many members of Congress asked President Obama to protect LGBT employees from discrimination in the workplaces of federal contractors?
Which state refused a mandatory ultrasound bill this week?"
