What We Have Here is a Failure to Cooperate

The Democratic message needs retooling
Or else people will ask Who are you fooling
Congress was made to cooperate
Make that your premise before it's too late

Both sides are failing neither deserves praise

Both sides are failing neither deserves praise
Republicans and Democrats refuse to compromise
Such refusal every hope defies
And any trust we have in Congress dies

Who Is Counterpunch Trying to Kid?

These bozos are acting like Cold War paranoids
As if opposing the GOP is the height of subversion
More or less like being a Commie back in the fifties
I have a keen desire to rout the GOP in November
If MoveOn does too fine with me

This puffed up screed is said to be published on the best political site in the world
With all due respect such superlatives are a sign of either a large sense of humor
Of massive insecurity

For the record I am not involved with MoveOn
I have contributed to that great subversive Barack Obama
And intend to do so again
I do not like the incessant emails I get asking me to contribute
I'll do it in my own good time

To be fair I do not know if the piece above actually represents Counterpunch
If it does not, my penitent apologies
You have shown more tolerance than I possess in printing it

Charles Sanders Peirce - Thinking in Threes

For those with eyes to see, the truth is mixed

For those with eyes to see, the truth is mixed,
For nature is a crazy quilt, unfurled,
The spectrum ranges from carnivorous,
To beauties past our power to describe;
A great procession of creations various—
Outrageous, frightening, cruel, sublime.
Respect the earth, and learn to know it well,
Respect its processes and mysteries;
Fathom its laws, unveil its gifts and flaws,
And learn to master its good processes.

So what is the ethical morass we are in?

ShortFormContent at Blogger: The Confusion in Charles Sanders Peirce:

The piece above has caught the fancy of my readers. So what is the ethical morass we are in? I contend that in a democracy the unwillingness to negotiate and compromise is the moral equivalent of what we call sin or hubris. This would seem to favor Obama who holds a similar position. But in fact it favors centrism. It is in fact the system we have but which our leaders seem unwilling to use. Charles Sanders Peirce is accessible to us with respect to his notion of how to think. You can read something of that at the link below. I think you can already sense that our sites should be trained on ourselves to the extent that we fail to observe the values of democracy, non-idolatry, helpfulness and tolerance. Insofar as we have better angels of our nature, it is to these negotiational values that we cleave.
