Speaking of being tied to terror, what the hell is a drone attack?

Terror.
The worst sort.
Unexpected.
Deadly.
Those tho undertake it cannot wrap themselves in any discernible mantle of legality.
Sad to say we pay taxes for same
And will pay taxes when these acts become a cause for yet another war
It is almost as if we were under instructions to prove that there is indeed
Such a thing as Original Sin

New York Times Practices Drone Silence

ShortFormContent at Blogger: We're not throwing in the towel. We are automating war for a dismal future.: "But, for the life of me, I cannot see why we think it is smart to build drones that any idiot can put together and lob them all over and think we are protecting our national security. It is like poison gas in World War One. We have breached the rules of war in more than one way. And we will pay."

Just as the New York Times fudged W's entry into Iraq and disaster, a material cause of it, given its potential to have stopped him, the Times has failed to raise the banner against drones. I raised my little play flag here in on July 6, 2011 and had less than 100 readers. Each day I watched NYT ads that revealed to millions its main purpose. To grease the skids for upward mobility in a society where upward mobility produces Wall Street criminality. Is it any wonder I have spent a life time as amazed by the misdeeds of liberals as the horrendous values and actions of conservatives? If you happen to be one of the less than 100 who read this, relax. Today the public editor of the Times finally wondered on at the paper's mute response to the most important potential cause of future wars that we have allowed to exist.

Drones are wonderful they don't kill us

Drones are wonderful they don't kill us
Unless an enemy sends one our way
Which means when someone has power to equal us
Fair is fair when power is what holds sway

"Here we go again. Officials said Monday that the CIA is preparing to launch predator drone strikes in Yemen to kill al Qaeda militants, taking advantage of that country's power vacuum. The U.S. previously has operated strikes against militants in Yemen - the country is home to the radical American-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki - but these were conducted with the knowledge of Yemen's government. The CIA program will have different legal restrictions, and will be modeled after the Pakistan strikes - conducted without express permission of the country."

Electronic war is still war and we should think twice

Electronic Warfare Moves to Frontline as U.S. Plans Troop Drawdown | Common Dreams: "BANGALORE - As the United States draws down troops in Afghanistan and Iraq and cuts back on defense spending, its reliance on technology will only rise, benefiting a clutch of companies specializing in intelligence gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance." Excuse me. We should think three times. 1. How neat. No dead bodies on our side. 2. But two can play that game. 3. There must be somewhere out of here.

Droning our way into what pray tell? Global robo cop?

U.S. drone targets two leaders of Somali group allied with al-Qaeda - The Washington Post: "The airstrike makes Somalia at least the sixth country where the United States is using drone aircraft to conduct lethal attacks, joining Afghanistan, Pakistan, Libya, Iraq and Yemen. And it comes as the CIA is expected to begin flying armed drones over Yemen in its hunt for al-Qaeda operatives."

Are we revving up for a third world war (axis of terror)

If I were on the terror side I would tell myself. This drone business is the last straw. It's time for us to get a nation of our own. Pakistan! Doable. Then I would escalate things with the goal of fomenting a World War Three with China and Iran if not as allies not as enemies. End of fantasy. The moral of this is that as the US uses drones all over the map, the backlash may exceed any advantage we may surmise. Is anybody thinking about this?
