The Bard would call them ignoramus slaughterers

The Bard would call them ignoramus slaughterers
That name he'd give our bilious GOP
And he would give some glad rags to the clown
Or anyone who thought that he could lead
You cannot lead an ignoramus slaughterer
Who cannot even see the death he wreaks
You must  restrain him with some chains that bind him well
Or otherwise he'll ope' gates of hell

Worst case for the GOP

Boehner dares not fight the fight
Spoiled wingnuts have their way
Leaving us a ruined nation
Leaving them with hell to pay

If this was baseball there'd be no GOP

Debt ceiling splitsville: Now what? - Jul. 23, 2011: "On Friday, for the third time in a month, Republicans abandoned negotiations with the White House over how to reduce the country's medium and long-term debt in time to raise the nation's debt ceiling."

From now on we take control of the narrative. Or we'll all go down the tube.

You would think August 2 was just around the corner

I swear I thought it was almost August. That is the mentality that people are putting out there. Time winding down and all that. We have eons before August 2. We cannot have a deal too fast. We need to play this out properly. Ladies and gentlemen, you will either be paralyzed by boredom by August 2 or so mad that you will actually change from whatever you are now to what you have hitherto despised. Just to have something to do. This is a posuitive reason why Eric Cantor cannot yet be placed under a rock where he belongs. We need the fellow to make us believe there is no hope at all.

Current Debt Ad Wars Are Missing The Point

Debt Ceiling Debate Sparks New Round Of TV Ad Wars : NPR: Dems need to give the public enough credit to know that the GOP is crazy and hypocritical. Instead of Big Mike nightmare ads they need to explain that our income is at a low and that income from the wealthy will help relieve the debt. The GOP GPS ad is effective because nothing it says is an outright lie. It is just a tissue of fears and frustrations with a nice voice. We lose when we do not answer as cleverly.

Why didn't we think of this - Zap the debt ceiling period

Moody’s: Get Rid of Debt Ceiling - The Daily Beast: "Here’s one way to avoid this mess again: Moody’s, the credit-rating agency, urges the U.S., in a new statement, to eliminate the debt ceiling entirely. Arguing that it creates “periodic uncertainty” among bond investors." We essentially have already. The goal of pay as you go is still the best goal and the economics that hallows deficit spending is what ultimately has to go. Paying the piper is what we must do as a new and sustainable and person-centered economy takes the place of a corporate, military, reifying, predatry, debt-ridden one.

Daily Kos seems concerned with placing blame and the debt crisis has not even been solved yet

Daily Kos :: State of the Nation If Charlie Brown were here you know what he would say. Not you bet your sweet bippy. But that's what I would say. If I cannot get to one text that is positive toward the President on a blog that frigging started out supporting John Dean (!), all I can conclude is that the Tower of Babel is definitely running on all cylinders. Of course we forget that these things come down to the final minute when the President notes the monumental solution that wiser heads have achieved. But people have to fill in the time with something.

Just in case you want to sound educated about the debt stuff

Debt debate cheat sheet - CNN.com All the options are here. I still believe it will be a larger deal than the least but that the enacting of it will be an incremental process. The solution will leave 2012 in abeyance with no clear victors. The sky will not fall.

Republicans Are Crazy Not to Take Obama at His Word

As our credit rating is being gnawed at by Wall street sorts and the Republican wingnuts are talking loud and signifying only hatred for Barack Obama, the President has made an offer of a compromise that would do both parties proud and increase our financial security around the world. That truth is getting lost as people try to puzzle out what sort of a hit we will take by continuing to act as we are acting now. It is time for Boehner and McConnell to shape up and knock heads and for Congress as a whole to reach an historic agreement that solves the debt crisis with a four trillion lop in expenses and the polarization crisis with a return of fair taxes to the rich. This is what the American people desperately want. And neither party will look good if this goes on much longer.
