CDC - Fact Sheet - Tobacco-Related Mortality - Smoking & Tobacco Use: "More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.1,2" I have no brief for smoking but I still maintain that oil and automobile deaths are a greater overall mortality cause if you add in wars and have a metric for driving-related injuries.
