What is a value when you are not talking car prices or stocks?

A value is an ascription of worth. Unfortunately when I try to write of values on the Internet the posts can easily be submerged by offerings that deal with stocks or homes or other things where the word value means only the financial worth of something. There are other value connections. Values are the lost element within philosophy. I would place them at the very apex where ontology and thought and signs reside.
