Cain's 999 Tax May Not Be That Regressive

Herman Cain talks tax reform with ‘9-9-9’ proposal - The Washington Post: "Under 9-9-9, Cain proposes replacing the current tax system with a 9 percent corporate tax, a 9 percent personal income tax and a 9 percent national sales tax. He argues that the simple plan would revive the economy by promoting growth, and in his characteristic blunt style asserts that it would free taxpayers from a complicated tax code that has become “the 21st-century version of slavery.”"

I would love to see a Cain-Obama presidential race. He makes more sense than Perry or Romney and he is the only one of the three capable of facing down the idiots of the GOP, named in many other posts. A 9 percent tax on income, purchases and corporations could be enforced because it is so simple. It would not penalize the poor because nine percent is for items that have value that is ambient and ephemeral. If you buy a T shirt for $1 you pay nine cents if you buy one for $20 you pay $1.80 and so forth through the entire retail economy.

It would stimulate competition for sure.

It would stimulate the economy and doubtless bring both the wealthy and corporations to some form of honesty. Many now pay nothing. It would put lawyers in their place. No loopholes. Cain is now the Republican front runner. This means the rank and file of the GOP is willing to venture outside the box. That would make Cain a serious possibility. Maybe Cain-Christie or Cain-Rubio.

We are more interested in entertainment than politics after all. And by retaking all of Congress the democrats would do well regardless of who was President.
