Prospects of at least four "parties" on the 2012 ballot

AFP: Johnson launches third-party White House bid: "Johnson is seen as having no realistic chance of winning the presidency, but polls suggest a third-party candidate could siphon enough support from the eventual Republican challenger to help Obama score another term.

This is bad news for former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and former House of Representatives speaker Newt Gingrich, the two men who lead the field going into the first Republican voting contest in Iowa on January 3"

So let's see. The two currently corrupt parties, dependent lobby cash, occupied with fundraising not us. Then this modest effort that might help Obama win. And then there is a placeholder effort which might actually shake things up. It suggests a proliferation of parties.  But there is nothing in this that will lead to serious reform. Only the growth of OWS as a seismic movement can transcend this ineffective show. When anyone can run and not be defeated because of money we may have the reform we need.
