The one behind close as the one before

The one behind close as the one before Unseen unknown no need to turn and look As evanescent as a wisp of dream As penetrating as a running stream The one behind whose eye upon us rests And forward we move on past all protests

Military Malfeasance, Afghanistan and National Sanity

In the post WW2 era  we have been prey to military malfeasance We cede vast power to generals  some sane some questionable
Our conduct of wars has been  largely non-productive and  vastly wasteful of lives
The tragedy is compounded  by the fact that  none of the wars  we have fought have  yielded up a vastly better result  than if we had  never entered them  in the first place.  True in Vietnam  True in Iraq  True in Afghanistan
Our military malfeasance  obligates politicians to  play along  even when they know  they are being conned The choices are never good  Hawks want to  paper over malfeasance  with more and more war  Non-hawks need to  paper over  their incredibly bad judgment
All of us are culpable
Chelsea Manning is  the sign and seal  of our malfeasance She had the fortitude  to expose it  She is now being made  into a martyr  by President Obama
As Commander in Chief  the President should repent  and free Chelsea Manning  immediately

Triadic Commentary - Abrahamic religions are obsolete

Abrahamic religions have played realpolitik from the start. They are morally problematic and without intrinsic authority. They have been in league with principalities and powers or captives of their cultures or both. We are in the era of a vast shift from religion to spirituality and universal practice of ontological , post-Aristotelian values - tolerance, democracy, helpfulness, non-idolatry. It is a pragmaticist spirituality which would subordinate both science and religion to a universal ethic based on the freedom to choose and the freedom to say no.. We are fortunate to be living at such a time.

If you are interested in reclaiming streets for children's play

Playing Out is now a blanket term for an effort to free the streets from  automobile traffic enough to enable children who live on those streets  to play
It is a sad comment on the dysfunction of automobile society that we now have to go hat in hand to eke out a bit of space and time so children can get out of their houses and play a bit in the street. If you want to be regularly tweaked on children's play, join this excellent Facebook group:
