We need the President to fire up the business imagination

We need to develop work at or near home that is tied to real businesses with roots and a record. We need to rethink delivery and transportation and find ways to combine the two in vehicles and modes of transport that are a step beyond what we have yet designed or invented. We need the President to fire up the business imagination with guidelines for what positive change will look like.

We Need To Make Geography Irrelevant

We need the President to say that the high speed internet grid is going to make geography irrelevant and enable people to put down roots anywhere they wish and still earn a living. This will create a massive recalibration and open the door to the creation of new human settlements. Modeled on pattern language principles. We need a realistic notion of work at home, not the current proliferation of network marketing, MLM schemes.

Entrepreneurial and Political Start Up Kit Free of Charge

Entrepreneurial: Begin buying up suburban and exurban areas that are depressed and falling apart and creating pedestrian settlements with enough density to support nearby agriculture. Start making pilot projects of green and sustainable communities.

Political: Challenge all zoning that militates against the creation of integral communities that enable work, commerce, education, preventative health, entertainment and diverse residence.

We Were Further Ahead in 1935 Than We Are Today

Cigarette Deaths Yes. Car Deaths No.

CDC - Motor Vehicle Safety: "Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among those age 5-34 in the U.S.1 More than 2.3 million adult drivers and passengers were treated in emergency departments as the result of being injured in motor vehicle crashes in 2009." A little grist for the mill. No outcry about this. Cigarette deaths yes. Car deaths no.

Statistics War Between Automobile and Smoking Deaths

CDC - Fact Sheet - Tobacco-Related Mortality - Smoking & Tobacco Use: "More deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined.1,2" I have no brief for smoking but I still maintain that oil and automobile deaths are a greater overall mortality cause if you add in wars and have a metric for driving-related injuries.
