Only One Way Austerity and Debt Can Be Reconciled

Obama Budget’s Dueling Priorities - Stimulus and Deficit - NYTimes.com: "“There’s pretty broad agreement that the time for austerity is not today. We need to go on a path where, over the next several years, we bring our deficit under control,” Mr. Lew said on the NBC program “Meet the Press.” “Right now we have a recovery that’s taking root, and if we were to put in austerity measures right now, it would take the economy in the wrong way.”"

We now the above is sensible. But the GOP will make mincemeat of the argument if we do not differentiate between expense that generates income and expense that merely increases debt. The expense that adds to income is education and development . We need to offer images of the way that education and development will work to reduce debt long term. Accentuate the positive.
