That austerity has been and is a failure is becoming so obvious that the GOP cannot possibly win an election touting its virtues. Whatever the problems connected with gaining prosperity for all, the recipe appears to be that it takes money to make money. Removing money from those who have little of it merely exacerbates a downward rush to the bottom.
When the GOP learns that congress=compromise and that careful stimulus generates prosperity, we shall take a few giant steps back to being a reasonable polity.
