There is not enough right on either side to make a war

There is not enough right on either side to make a war

Mingling with the truth that's on the right
is falsehood smallness and short sightedness
that makes a mockery of valid conservative premises

Mingling with the truth that is on the left
is simplistic analysis and a failure to acknowledge
the need to change

The result is conflict and unwillingness to compromise

Truth would fall on all like a redemptive wet blanket
The President's approach has been right all along
So centrist that it hurts
I think that most agree with this
and that 2012 will witness to the truth that
most of our battling is posturing
to avoid painful but needed compromises
Of the sort that make for progress
In all times and in all places
