Virtues cut both ways. Values lead to progress.  An elementary grammar of ethics reveals it What do courage, honor, hard work, patience, loyalty and carefulness have in common? They are all virtues. And they are all binary, meaning that they can be either-or, either positive or negative. Run through them. Any virtue can morph into the ugly, the harmful, the deleterious. Values stand up much better. They are ontological. The ontological values of Triadic Philosophy Democracy Tolerance Helpfulness Non-idolatry. They are generals, universals. Each can lead to considered actions whose results prove positive. These values powered  the Presidential election of 2012. The reality of will and its fundamental power

We are confronted with mystery always.

leading to conflict in all areas of existence. 

We have denied the will to determine our destiny. 

We have subordinated values 

to the realm of pricing things. 

And we wonder where we are going. 

Triadic Philosophy demonstrates that 

the lineaments of a positive destiny 

 have been present all along. 

It was always possible to think in threes. 

It was always possible to find a way beyond 

a house divided. 

The proof lies in doing it. 

In this sense doing Triadic Philosophy may be

Though we claim reality for ourselves 

and even for our actions, 

the specificity of any act means that 

it has no ontological (general) status in itself. 

We become more real  (with a small r) 

the more our actions are redolent of Reality.

 It is an interesting journey. 

Signs, words and ideas begin in the realm of Reality. 

Their passage through Ethics and  Aesthetics 

gives them a particularity. 

All acts are particular. 

Still the closer our actions are to the ideal 

the more we can  guess that eternity is 

intersecting with chronological time.

Triadic Philosophy thinks in triads or threes. 

This means that when we consciously 

receive a sign or a word or a thought 

we regard it as the First or Reality. 

The Second in Triadic Philosophy is Ethics 

which means that the First 

(whatever it may be) 

immediately becomes subsumed 

by the ensuing encounter with the ethical realm. 

In Triadic Philosophy this means that  

our reality encounters Tolerance, Helpfulness, 

Democracy and Non-Idolatry. 

These are the ontological values of Triadic Philosophy 

and can be shown to be, taken together, 

the very engines of human progress. 

The result of this encounter is a dyad 

which is then linked to the Third, 

or Aesthetic, realm. 

This realm is the point at which 

the rubber hits the road. 

It is the point at which the thinking process 

moves from consideration to activation, 

to actualization, to our reality with a small r. 

If the sign was poverty

 and the dominant ethical response 

was the felt need for more democracy, 

then the Aesthetic response would be 

whatever strikes you as an action 

or effort or experiment that has elements of 

truth and beauty. 

Note that the Triadic Philosophy thought process 

precludes many elements of harm. 

In Triadic Philosophy 

harm is synonymous with evil, 

particularly when it is sustained 

and intentional and tends 

toward violence and even death.
