It is falling because the oil sprawl economy to which the whole world aspires is a failing project that can only continue to sputter and fail

It is falling because the lack of confidence that this reality engenders is formidable and going nowhere but up

It is failing because no one has listened to this simple argument and concluded that we could turn things around by predicating everything on the need for car-free cyber communities globally built on pattern language principles. Click labels for emendations.

Fine, but the real reason for the huge flooding cost is the unreasonable human addiction to to building near water. We should in recreating society build communities of sufficient size that they qualify as cyber-cities or units of cyber-metro areas. These would best be placed along existing interstates at altitudes that render the possibility of flood damage nearly impossible. Make no mistake. Sprawl must go and will no doubt be bulldozed or otherwise eliminated. We are going to have new cities. A new society. New opportunity for real community.  It is the key to recovery and future prosperity. We need to discover and celebrate the human in one another.

Human beings live not merely with a need for confidence but with a need for some assurance that they have ground to stand on. Today the reality is too seismic to form a basis for confidence. So much that we have built was an error to begin with that we are wisely letting it collapse with few tears. As we perceive and begin more and more to live by the values we have ignored or rejected over time, the solutions will drop like ripe fruit and confidence wlll well up in a sea of happy tears. And we will have learned that we should have been living without a net all along.
