The third side is the millions who stayed home and applied themselves to creating rules and habits to accommodate an enlargement of freedom on the planet. That is what Peirce called the Third. His alternative to a dyadic, binary, we-they, nominalist world of the sort we had for centuries when philosophy took a wrong turn.

White House Gay Pride: An Oxymoron? — BagNews: "I’m sorry the LGBT Gay Pride event at the White House on Wednesday received so little press coverage, just a handful of pictures and no shots of Obama interacting with the crowd (if he even did). I also can’t tell if there were any women in attendance."
