Triadic Philosophy Commentary - The only way to "grade" reality I know

Virtues cut both ways. Values lead to progress.

Charles Sanders Peirce has inspired me to
understand values as ontological
and tied to human
will.
Charles Sanders Peirce has encouraged me to
herald the death of culture religion (see Barth)
and its evolution into a global spirituality
based on values -
lived in the immanent frame.
Charles Sanders Peirce has inspired me to
Charles Sanders Peirce has inspired me to
wonder about my past
as his family
arrived in Watertown, MA,
at
about the same time my ancestor
Captain
Hugh Mason settled there (1639)
and I share many traits that have been
ascribed
to CSP and have had
a “career” similar in some respects to his.
Charles
Sanders Peirce saw through things
and was plain in his description of what he
saw.
Those who find him obscure
may have vision problems
or not.
It depends on
your philosophy.
Will is the power that enables conscious, reasoned thought.
The Struggle
+
Will is the power that enables
conscious,
reasoned thought.
The reality of will and its fundamental power
is central to
Triadic Philosophy.
We are confronted with mystery always.
Thinking realistically carves out a space
within the mystery
for the consideration of Ethics
and then enables an Aesthetic response
that tends toward the beautiful and true.
We have spent millennia
locked in
largely binary,
dyadic modes of perception,
leading to conflict in all areas of existence.
We have denied the will
to determine our destiny.
We have subordinated values
to the realm of pricing
things.
And we wonder where we are going.
Triadic Philosophy demonstrates that
the
lineaments of a positive destiny
have
been present all along.
It was always possible to think in threes.
It was
always possible to find a way beyond
a house divided.
The proof lies in doing
it.
In this sense doing Triadic Philosophy may be
the most significant action anyone can take.

Occupy Wall Street can be a values revolution
Don’t Mistake Occupy Wall Street for Team Obama | Common Dreams: "But they don’t own Occupy Wall Street anymore. That was evident Thursday morning, when the encampment began to fill with even more arrivals. And some of the new faces showing up in Zuccotti seem more representative of the working-class angst gripping the country."
Nietzsche correctly said that the task of all creative human beings is the revaluation of values. We can see this as skewering the values that have reigned hitherto. Among these is honor, which has become the talisman of competition, warfare and hierarchy. Those who seek a different focus turn not to specific religions but to the universal perspectives found in persons who are the antiphon of honor and other "manly virtues". One derives from such an exploration the values of non-idolatry, tolerance, democracy and helpfulness, a quadrilateral cluster of values which remain true whether one accepts them or not. They roll back nominalism and concede a place for eternal verities. And for the eventual triumph of reason. We have progress apace even in a world where hysteria is easily manufactured and even encouraged by our corporate advertisers. But the revolution underway will "honor" to the nomads of the universe who embrace no platform save these values and insist that the world conform to them in all that is done. A values revolution!

The Tao leaves everybody free to choose
The Tao leaves everybody free to choose
The values deep within us all
These values can sustain the universe
It is when we ignore them that we fall
It is when we ignore them that we fall
9/17/11
The Tao set forth the values of this world
The Tao set forth the values of this world
To set the ends creation would achieve
And conscious life is now discovery
Of what they are and that our choice is free

New Tao Posts: The Tao honors no one and uplifts all
New Tao Posts: The Tao honors no one and uplifts all:
Values are subjects. Characteristics and virtues are predicates. Honor is not a subject. But it has been denoted a value by no less than Aristotle. Nietzsche was right in calling for a revaluation of values. Without telling us what the new values were owing to life-changing encounter with a cruelly-beaten horse in Turin followed by a decade of essential captivity prior to his death.
The values of the Tao are only known
The values of the Tao are only known
When chosen freely over lesser ones
Then made to shine in actions of such worth
That happiness spreads freely on the earth

The legitimate limit of tolerance
Norway Questions Its Tolerance Of Extremism : NPR
As a staunch advocate of tolerance as an active value which is central to our makeup, when we activate it, this story is a good place to pinpoint the limit that we may place on tolerance. It has precisely to do with the taking of life. And with any taking of life. Including in wars. Taking life, particularly when it is conscious or when there is awareness as in a drone attack, is evil. It cannot be countermanded by saying it is tit for tat save in war where the lex talionis eye for an eye is preferable to overreaching revenge. The Norwegian's action was and remains intolerable. He is personally fortunate to live in a country that does not practice the revenge of the death penalty. In time he may come to see and understand just how intolerable and against any valid understanding of what Jesus was about the evil of killing is.
