The difference between Obama and Carter

As in taking everything personally
On Rick Perry's attacks he would say something defensive
Obama is way beyond personal
He allows thought to intervene
His skin has been thickened by reality
When he responds to Perry the tone is not defensive
It is at once light and ominous
It is, He needs to be a little careful with what he says
Ominous subtext, That kind of talk can come back to bite you big time
The difference between Obama and Carter is that Rick Perry will be doing no negotiating behind Obama's back to further humiliate a vulnerable human being

Your party has had a giant race card to play and plays it with impunity. Obama has responded with rope-a-dope while conservatives exulted and progressives squirmed. So dream on Mark. It will be a tough and even brutal election. But we need to be fully aware right now that we are not looking at a Ronald Reagan - bad as that might be. We are looking at a W, at a Bush 3, at a Jaws of Hell gate keeper. And when Obama is through with him, that is the identity that will stick.

Maybe Perry Is His Own Worst Nightmare

Well, W ran and won on a pretty shabby record. What strikes me are the debt notes I am finding. It would seem hat Rick Perry is the last person to sustain an image as a deficit hawk. Then again he is joined by a number of other illustrious GOP prevaricators. Could the GOP stand to see another hopeful go down? That is the subtext of my earlier Paul Ryan note.

What saves money and improves care is in harmony with the Obama health care reform
Here is another sleeping giant. Perry is off the stage now But the efforts to submarine health care continue and the casualties are the most needy. Obamacare will eventually save money and no one has sought to do more to aid states than President Obama. The GOP narrative is that Obama wants to create a dependency society. This is a sad political ploy that assumes that the values of individual initiative and self reliance are the province of Republicans alone. What the advent of the Web has done is demonstrate that these characteristics are universal, regardless of one's politics.
