Triadic Philosophy - Economy Ethics Aesthetics

Triadic Philosophy embraces profound simplicities
that expose the obfuscations
that shelter injustice

A good example is the massive gap between
wealth and poverty
a gap which has nothing to do with
laziness or lack of ability
and everything to do with
the manifold means of advantage
available to those who find themselves
among the privileged

Jesus was spot on when he said
we will always have the poor with us
but this has nothing to do with accepting
poverty as inevitable
It has everything to do with a clear-eyed view
of hypocrisy the glue
of our unjust world order

Triadic Philosophy is the
simple direct and efficacious means
of upsetting this order
with words that serve as signs
that serve to activate the wills of billions
who can in unison alter injustice
with a minimum of conflict
merely by refusing to accept
a world that sustains itself
as ours does

With that preamble
a triad of liberation

Economy -
the sign of thrift reason and fairness to all
Ethics - the necessity of overcoming the idolatry
intolerance unhelpfulness
and undemocratic strategies
by which the powers maintain sway
and finally
Aesthetics -
the daily means by which we reverse
unjust conditions
so that beauty and truth coalesce
in lives full loving
and spirit-filled
Do not deceive yourself into
regarding these statements as naive
On reflection you will see that daily work
toward tolerance helpfulness
democracy and non-idolatry
is the very soul of overcoming
and that individuals empower this soul

Cars and houses and uncertainty

Retail sales disappoint - Dec. 13, 2011: "The disappointing numbers do not bode well for retailers that depend on strong holiday sales -- despite a recent wave of optimism in the industry."

'via Blog this'

Cars are not being bought because we have not yet answered the question of the future of the car. Goods for house living are not being bought because we are confused about the current realities of real estate and the future of sprawl society as we know it. These are formidable confusions that segue with a growing awareness that the deck is stacked - along with what seems systemic unemployment we have income stagnation or recession as the political system struggles to rid itself of the dominant influences - all of which support the car, sprawl and inequality. Does that do it for you? It should create the slight hint of an agenda.

Touche

Is the government creating or killing jobs? | government, jobs, creating - Afternoon letters - The Orange County Register: "All the pomp and circumstance is fine and dandy, but until the government starts helping people who build things instead of just the people sitting up in high-rises who pick-and-choose who to loan money to, our economy will continue to decline."

Ponzi economy? Anyone recognize themselves in this picture?

The Ponzi Economy - TIME : "Real estate is the only major consumer market in which how much you'll pay someone depends on your belief about how much someone else will pay you. In this market, prices go up when people believe they will continue to go up. To restore confidence would mean restoring belief in the greater fool. That shouldn't be hard. It's built into human nature. This is why another term for a Ponzi or pyramid scheme is a confidence trick."

If this is true it extends to the market as well. And to business too. Everyone is hoping to make more than they put in. So let's apply radical egalitarianism to the whole shooting match and get rid of the hypocrisy. We earned it means we won in the game. No one deserves anything at the expense of another. Instead of trading for individual gain we should think about common effort using the talents of all. Instead, we do our best to humiliate and marginalize the very people who could be the most help in a common effort.

The bubble economy and the inflationary bottom

The I-word - Boston.com: "That particular nightmare never came to pass, thanks to drastic measures taken by the Federal Reserve. For the better part of the past 30 years, the dollar has stayed stable, reassuring American families and the nation’s trading partners, with the central bank standing guard over the economy and doing everything necessary to keep inflation low."

Its funny. Our costs at the market for dairy and fruit have gone up and things at the dollar store are a dollar no more. Yet I get Amazon offers for a meal that would cost $150 if it was not for their $75 coupon. Inflation appears nonexistent for the privileged whose income and worth is 20x that of the the rest. Poor and lower income whites, Blacks and Hispanics scrape by. Inflation is a constant. We have a bubble economy for the better off with prices pre-inflated so there is wiggle room. Where prices are real - at the bottom -  inflation is happening right now.

Bank of America on the carpet

Nevada Wallops Bank of America With Sweeping Suit; Nationwide Foreclosure Settlement in Peril - ProPublica: "The state of Nevada dramatically expanded its lawsuit against Bank of America today, turning the narrow case it filed late last year into a broadside that targets virtually all aspects of the bank's mortgage operations. Bank of America has previously denied wrongdoing."

How about the number of jobs that will be created cleaning everything up?

Hurricane Irene to deliver blow to economy - Business - US business - msnbc.com: "Statistician Nate Silver, who crunched the data for his New York Times blog, puts the worst-case estimate at $35 billion -- half of New York City's annual budget -- if Irene were to pass directly over Manhattan with 100 mile-per-hour winds. While the odds of a direct hit on the city are slim, a Category 2 storm passing within 50 miles of downtown would cause $10 billion in damage, according to Silver's model."

Everything that Jesus said implies equalization not stratification

Historical Jesus Theories

Everything that Jesus said implies equalization not stratification
That the first shall be last and the last first is a paradigm for a values based economy
This economy rewards the circulation of money period
This economy rewards those who have the least so that their least grows at a faster rate than those who have
This economy abolishes conventional charity and rewards instead the circulation of money in the form of gifts and payments and direct contributions to others
This economy embraces an ethic of agape

How do you measure cost in life

How do you measure cost in life
I bet not very carefully
That is if you are made like me
You act before you count the cost
Before you know it you are lost
But there is one redeeming thing
You understand a real economy

Poverty Recipe: Cut the number of employees and make them work more

Not Trickling Down: The Percentage Of Americans In Poverty Now Equals China - Digg: politicususa.com — In a recent report, experts said the number of poor in America is nearly identical by percentage to China where more than half the population are peasant farmers who barely subsist from day to day. 20 hr 32 min ago.

This helps the luxury biz. More workers getting less money would buy more basic things.

Growth lies in remaking society

Definable communities of up to 10k in walkable areas off limits to automobiles
(Reduce and phase out oil use by means of recalibrating communities)
Ending zoning as we know it and creating a mix of residence, work spaces, public amenities, kiosk shops, services
(We are past the industrial age and entering the cyber-age)
Recast manufacturing to center on the creation of mass produced "spaces" to be the lego-like units of construction in four-level max walkable communities
(To enable creation of a giant skeleton to which spaces are attached in order to enable all functions that are currently the costly elements of individual houses and everything needed for eco-sustainability)
Concede that to resuscitate dying education and dying families we will benefit from the creation of intentional communities where pioneers of cyber society can live according to values of tolerance, helpfulness, democracy and non-idolatry

The housing hole is a sprawl hole

Bank of America Is Back in an Abyss - NYTimes.com

Sure the banks are no longer made of marble but of bad loans and recriminations
Sure the banks are no longer under Glass-Steagall
But rather under the spell of trading in which customers become enemies or marks or suckers
Good going Phil Gramm and other intelligent economic scholars
Rubin Summers whoever you are
We are clearly revving up for the second scoop
And this will be more serious than the first
Because as I have said to no major hearing thus far
This is all a function of the impetus to sprawl which is racist in origin and aimed at escaping the realities of face to face contact with the wonder that America is becoming
We will become that wonder with tacks and chewing gum when money has no more value
We will educate our children when they express interest in this or that
We will go back to face to face
And helping
And tolerating
And end the dreamy nightmare we have been wandering in
I saw this coming
I got out because the wingnuts were ascending
It will probably make no difference
I wonder if we will continue to be entertained by the spectacle that is about to unfold
Just remember when people talk about the economy recovering
Think of economy as rehab in the lexicon of the late Amy Winehouse
We want a recovery of community and we will get it one way or another

We Are in A Truncation Period

We are in a truncation period
When we repealed Glass Steagall (under Clinton) we opened the door to trading
Over old fashioned face to face back and forth
The world has become air and bytes
And air and bytes cannot support anything but phony global polarization and stratification and any other ation you can name
We will survive a better world because democratic values are welling up in all the people who are so poor they are unaffected by all this
And all the people who are being jerked around because their eyes are being opened
When it is done we will think beyond big oil and big cars and big deals
And recover some community
Some decent education
Some of what happens when a seed falls to the ground to rise again

Recovery depends on creating something people want

Ezra Klein: We've Stabilized Into Crisis - The Daily Beast

Let's see what could that be
A cheaper way to live as in less expensive housing
A cheaper way to learn and get accreditation as in less expensive education
A cheaper way to travel as in better mass transportation and less fuel gobbling modes
More face to face community but in a more secure environment than now exists
Less obfuscation generally in all areas
There's a starting list
And all of these can be addressed by thinking cyber instead of the culture we insist can recover which is oil sprawl
And ultimately cyber will be the basis for new face to face secure cyber communities that cut the cost of living in half and increase the meaning and enjoyment of living by at least that much

Big Oil Koch Coup Watch Your Back

George Monbiot – How the Billionaires Broke the System: "What’s taking place in Congress right now is a kind of political coup. A handful of billionaires has shoved a spanner into the legislative process. Through the candidates they’ve bought and the movement that supports them."

These people will stop at nothing.
Thugs are not out of the question.
They are only a step or two to what they want.
They want to win the war for the domination of the economy by oil and the car.
That is exactly what will kill the global economy.

The reason the economy is dysfunctional

No group public or private has built a model of what the future could  be.
The future must be beyond oil, beyond beyond rural, beyond metro sprawl.
Car free cyber-cities which have everything within walking distance is the wave of the future.
These can be in many forms but all will have common means of achieving green sustainability.
All will have new forms for renewed education, renewed commerce, renewed work and renewed housing.
We have not even gotten to the point of saying we intend to move beyond the oil-car economy.
Cars and houses are too expensive for our future
Compact, mass-produced cyber cities will create full employment and the sense of a true new frontier.
There is no reason the culture of any current hopping city cannot become the culture of cyber-cities build anywhere and everywhere.
There is no reason existing areas cannot be converted into car-free cyber cities.

Why Construction is Moribund

Construction is moribund because the day of the detached house that requires constant upkeep is over
Construction is moribund because planners have not come to grips with the relationship between density and vibrant economies
Construction is moribund because the future lies with the mass production of spaces
This construction will eventually replace the auto industry and become the foundation of a global business
None of these points is yet prominent or even present in the current discussion
The only thing that is present are symptoms that would be explicable in the terms of these premises

Today's economy based on separated dwellings with numerous cars per household is unsustainable

Communities of the future will need to be car-free, concentrated developments that combine most of thea attributes we look for in a city.
These communities will need to contain up to 10,000 people in order to be economically viable. Most services and commercial establishments will be within walking distance. Many public spaces will have multiple uses.
Such communities will require the creative skills of architects, designers, planners and inventors working together to ensure that they are as ecologically self-sufficient as possible.

Cars will need to be used outside the perimeter of these communities. Today's economy based on separated dwellings with numerous cars per household is unsustainable, ecologically disastrous and a threat to public health.

The poll nobody dares to have

Do you believe the American dream is having a detached home some distance from where you work?
Would you accept less pay if hours had to be adjusted so that everyone who wants a job could have one?
Is the reason businesses won't invest is because they do not know what the future will look like?
Should the future be more sprawl, more oil. more highways, more traffic?
Does the concept of a car free environment where everything is within walking distance appeal to you?
What if we could subscribe to our living arrangement and replicate it wherever we are?
Refine these and related questions and see what answers you get.
